As part of Work Package 4, led by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), the PROGRESSION project has entered the study phase and is finalising adjustments to the practical course.
This phase focuses on refining a hands-on training programme developed around the project’s innovative learning concept and immersive VR/AR technology.
The course is being implemented across simulation centres at KSH, MUNI MED, and ESEP, following a comprehensive protocol designed by FMUP. To evaluate its effectiveness, FMUP has also developed a set of instruments to gather feedback on participants’ satisfaction with the course, the usability of the VR and AR tools, and the overall learning outcomes.
This multicentric study follows a quasi-experimental pre-post-test design with repeated measures, aimed at assessing the course’s educational impact. Participants will undergo knowledge and decision-making assessments at three key points: before the course, after the VR module, and after the AR module. The evaluation will focus primarily on improvements in knowledge acquisition and decision-making skills.
Based on the collected feedback, FMUP and LMU will compile and analyse the results, which will be shared with ESEP, KSH, and MUNI MED. These institutions will use the insights to refine the course content and deliver a final version. In parallel, LMU and MUNI MED will implement necessary updates to the technology to ensure alignment with the project’s educational objectives.
