Today, we would like to introduce another project partner: the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University (MUNI MED).

Masaryk University, the second-largest university in the Czech Republic, was founded in 1919. The university upholds the democratic traditions and intellectual legacy of President Tomáš G. Masaryk. It combines history, tradition, and quality education. The Faculty of Medicine, one of the four founding faculties of Masaryk University, boasts over 24,000 graduates in the medical field since its establishment.

Currently, the faculty is attended by over 4500 students and is home to more than 70 scientific research departments, 53 clinical departments, 18 theoretical institutes, and 28 research groups.

The faculty is located on a modern university campus, which includes the largest simulation center in Europe. Among the fields offered by the faculty is midwifery, which is provided by the Institute of Health Sciences. This program lasts six semesters and concludes with a bachelor’s state examination. The study program encompasses 4,600 hours, with half of the time dedicated to theoretical instruction and simulation model training, and the other half focused on practical preparation through professional internships at clinical workplaces.

Within the PROGRESSION project, the faculty brings expert know-how in midwifery education and simulation training using all fidelity types of simulation. With its experience in using virtual reality in education, the faculty leads the Development of Technology work package. Together with Escola Superior de Enfermagem do Porto (ESEP) and Katholische Stiftungshochschule University of Applied Sciences (KSH), MED MUNI will host the first run of the course created within the PROGRESSION project.
